John Reilly's Bio

John Reilly is an accomplished woodwind doubler,  one of the few who plays "all" woodwinds, including oboe and bassoon.  John received his Bachelor's degree from University of Nevada, Reno,  where he started playing in the backup band for Harrah's in Reno.  After moving to Lake Tahoe, he backed up many prominant headliners  at Harrah's Tahoe,  Sonny & Cher, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, the Carpenter's, John Denver, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Carol Burnett, Jim Nabors, Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston, just to name a few!

Since his move to Los Angeles from Lake Tahoe in 1982, John has played for soundtracks for 100's of films, CDs and commercials.  Playing lots of musicals, John  opened the original "Jersey Boys" before it went to Broadway at La Jolla Playhouse in 2004! He is first call for Broadway bound shows at La Jolla Playhouse, the San Diego Civic,  and the Old Globe, where the hit "Allegiance", starring Lea Solonga and George Takei first opened before it headed to Broadway.

John has been nominated for five Grammy's and is on Stevie Wonders last award winning CD, " A Time To Love". He recently recorded Melissa Manchester's CD and is featured on many of the cuts. 

Mr. Reilly received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education  from the University of Nevada in Reno and has a Master's in Woodwind Doubling from the University of Redlands.

John has two grown sons, Michael and Brendan, both accomplished musicians in their own right, living in Vallejo, CA and London respectively.  Also an prominent teacher, John has taught all the woodwinds for many years, and has been on the Faculty at California Baptist University, Riverside since 2005. 

John is also known worldwide as "a master at his craft" mouthpiece refacer with clients worldwide, Kenny G, Michele Zukovsky, George Shelby, Eric Alexander,  just to name a few.

Mr. Reilly lives in Lake Forest, CA in the heart of Orange County, just south of Disneyland, with his lovely wife Lisa Cherry, also a professional musician, and their three Golden Retrievers!
